As of 10/5/09, the garden planners decided to disband this initiative. There is no community garden in Sycamore Hills, nor will there be in the foreseeable future. This blog is still online as a way to help others in their own process of creating a community garden.
How to Read this Blog
This blog is only one way to join in the conversation and planning about the proposed community garden. Other ways to communicate effectively and kindly: returning the survey, to attend garden planning meetings, emailing or calling the garden planner, joining the SHCG contact list, and reading updates in the newsletters. Information that is on here is continually updated and revised. We welcome your thoughts, questions, and concerns.
This blog is an effort to make the planning and hopefully implementation of a brand new community garden TRANSPARENT for all.
It is important to know one's history, and I am using this blog to document the history of our community garden, right from the very first communication. Maybe it will help someone else starting a garden or us as our garden grows.
The (working) mission statement of the SHCG: To grow community, food, and knowledge.
My goal with the blog: to show the good, the bad, and the beautiful about my experience with starting and participating in a community garden.
If any SHCG would also like to be an author on this blog, just let me know-I can show you how or just add you on! Every viewpoint and perspective makes this history richer. A side benefit: writing on this blog combines action (gardening) with reflection (blogging), which makes our garden and community richer for your efforts.
If your name is on something and you don't want it to be, please let me know and I will take it off immediately.
